WHO IS REANIMATED BOY?
Reanimated Boy (real name Ben) has had a passion for music from a young age when his dad used to bring home the old seven inch singles from the jukebox whenever they updated the catalogue. He tinkered with electric keyboards throughout childhood and began to realise how cathartic and relaxing writing songs could be. Ben has used music to escape the harshness of school, the uncomfortable reality of relocating across the country and a way to channel the realities of living with OCD and social anxiety into something positive.
Starting during his GCSE years and inspired by the likes of Imogen Heap, dubstar, Kirsty MacColl, The Pet Shop Boys and Garbage, Ben started really producing music in 2009 when he was able to buy his own studio set up which he still uses to record music at home today. Lyrically, he is inspired by the darker side of life, the melancholy moments where we lose ourselves for a little while, dark nights, cold rainy days, all of the things that are a little bit grey.
Reanimated Boy is a reflection of most of the music Ben writes, a reflection of his love of all things zombie while at the same time reflecting the way he often feels, lost, cloudy, not quite present in the now, feelings many people with OCD and anxiety may recognise in themselves.
Reanimated Boy makes music with the upbeat synth sound of bands like The Pet Shop Boys with the deep and gritty lyrical content of the 90’s Rock movement, creating a juxtaposition of the upbeat and the morose. Reanimated Boy is not afraid to delve into the darker side of life, taking inspiration from the world around him and personal experience to create music which most would be hard pushed not to relate to. He creates music with a message, makes people face up to and recognise the sides of themselves they would often rather ignore.
A Reanimated Boy track featuring Sarah Blackwood (Dubstar, Client), was recently used in a documentary about OCD, a huge personal project as it is something Ben has lived with for years. Before Reanimated Boy, Ben released two songs commercially under the name Hollow Me and was featured on an electro pop compilation.
Selling his music for as low a price as possible, he intends to reach and connect with as many people as possible through his music, with the additional option to support the artist further on patreon if you like what you hear and you want to hear more.
